Our Team

Terrones Driving Academy LLC :

We are a family run and locally owned business. Our goal is to help young driver's be confident, comfortable, and ready to be independent on the road. We have a combined 37 years of experience behind the wheel and in the classroom.

Robert "Bob" Terrones:

Bob has 20+ years of experience teaching drivers education in the classroom and behind the wheel at Gilbert, Ames, Roland-Story, Boone, South Hamilton, Nevada and Humboldt.

Karl Terrones:

Karl has 11 years of experience teaching drivers education behind the wheel. His experience ranges from Gilbert, Ames, Roland-Story, Boone, South Hamilton, and Nevada.  He also has an abundance of experience working with international students and adult drivers.

 Colbi Terrones: 

Colbi is our administrative assistant and driving instructor. Most people would know her as "Mrs. T" as a preschool teacher at Gilbert Elementary. 

Hesston Johnson:

Hesston teaches middle school physical education at Roland-Story. 

Hesston coaches multiple sports at the high school and junior high levels.  He has been teaching drivers Ed for 13 years. 

Vic Vanderpool:

25 years of experience in education as a licensed administrator, teacher, and coach

Tom Shelton:

Tom has worked for the Ames Police Department for 27 years, and has coached baseball for 14 years at Ballard Community School.  When he isn't working or coaching he likes to spend his free time at Table Rock Lake in southern Missouri and vacationing in Siesta Key in Sarasota Florida.

Mike Kruse:

Mr. Kruse brings over 30 years of both classroom and behind the wheel instruction to the Terrones Driving Academy.  He has taught driver education at Gilbert.  He has now retired from teaching PE and health at Gilbert.  

Jake Gaul:

Originally from Wichita, Kansas. Jake has 9 years of college, coaching experience and is now the baseball coach at Gilbert High School. In his free time he loves doing anything outdoors with his family and playing golf.

Celena Rohland:

Celena has worked for the Ames Police Department since 2018, she is a field training officer and a firearms instructor with the department. She spends a lot of her free time doing house projects. She is looking forward to teaching student drivers how to be confident and safe behind the wheel!
